    Article summary

Backblaze Computer Backup may report that it is offline or that it has not backed up in a long time even if your computer can connect to the Internet. This is likely caused by a firewall issue.

This article provides links to temporarily disable popular firewalls.

    Note
Backblaze does not recommend that you permanently disable your firewall. If, after you disable your firewall, Backblaze begins to properly function, work with your firewall vendor to permit only Backblaze to access the Internet while the firewall is enabled.

    • ZoneAlarm
You can configure ZoneAlarm to allow the Backup Client to access the Internet. Specifically, you can allow the executable bztransmit.exe file to access services on the Internet. Click here to configure the firewall. The complete path to bztransmit.exe is C:\Program Files\Backblaze\bztransmit.exe.
