    Article summary

Security programs like Bitdefender may incorrectly flag the Backblaze Computer Backup software as malware. This can cause installation issues or malfunctions. To resolve this issue, add a rule to Bitdefender to allow Backblaze to back up your data.

    Add Backblaze to Bitdefender's Allowances

    1. Open Bitdefender.
    2. In the left menu, select Protection.
    3. Under Firewall, click Settings.
    4. Click Add Rule.
    5. Click Browse.
    6. Select the file named bztransmit.exe or bztransmit64.exe, and click OK.
      • For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Backblaze\bztransmit.exe
      • For Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Backblaze\bztransmit.exe
      • For Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Backblaze\bztransmit64.exe
If you do not know whether your version of Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit, select both bztransmit.exe and bztransmit64.exe separately.
    7. Enable Permission, and click OK.
    8. Repeat the above steps for files bztrans_thread00 - bztrans_thread19.
    9. When prompted, restart your computer.
