Update the Backblaze Backup Client

There are three options to update the Backblaze Computer Backup client to the newest version.

Automatic Updates

Periodically, Backblaze automatically updates all users to the newest version of Backblaze.

Manually Update

You can check for updates to manually update. Do not uninstall the current version of your client.

1. Click the Backblaze icon in the menu bar or the system tray, and select Check for Updates.
2. If an update is available, download the update.
3. Install the update.

Use the Backblaze Installer

You can use the Backblaze installer to update the client. Do not uninstall Backblaze. Instead, install over the top of the existing version.

The URL https://secure.backblaze.com/update.htm always points to the newest version of Backblaze.

1. Navigate to https://secure.backblaze.com/update.htm.
2. Download the Backblaze Installer for Mac or Windows.
3. Locate and select the downloaded file.
4. Select the Backblaze Installer. Do not select the Backblaze Uninstaller.
5. Click Install Now.
