    Article summary

If your Backblaze client is on version 7.0 or newer, you can increase the version history for a group from 30-days (included) to either one year or forever.

Extended version history is applied on a per-group basis. If you select "1-Year" or "Forever" version history for a group, that selection applies to all of the backups within that group. Increasing version history to one year means that all of the versions of modified or deleted files are available to restore for one year after they were modified or deleted. If you never want versions of your modified or deleted files removed from your backup, you can increase version history to "forever."

External hard drives that you select for backup are included in version history, and you can recover them even if a drive has been disconnected more than 30 days.

When you select a version history option, text is displayed that explains when the version history begins, the prorated amount that you will pay today, and the increase of your next renewal.

    Note
With extended version history, files that you removed over 30 days ago or external drives that are disconnected for longer than 30 days are retained on Backblaze servers. However, if files/drives are not present for longer than 30 days, they will not appear in your current backup view.

You can adjust the date and time preferences on your View/Restore Files page to locate data that was deleted, overwritten, or otherwise removed from the computer being backed up. For more information, see Restoring Deleted or Previous Versions of Files.
