Upload and download performance with Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage depends on multiple factors, including file size, bandwidth, and the transfer method. You can also affect performance by making modifications to your settings.
Backblaze does not throttle customers and offers plenty of bandwidth across all of our data centers. You can make adjustments to allow a faster connection, such as multithreading. Because of the time that is required to process any API call on the Backblaze servers, each file that you upload has a set amount of time overhead. With multithreading, that overhead happens concurrently rather than sequentially.
Note
There is no standard term for multithreading. You may see it referred to as "concurrency," "threads," "simultaneous uploads/downloads," or another term that indicates multiple actions. Check your application's user guide or the Backblaze Integration Guides to learn how to increase multithreading. Multithreading typically results in better performance, but this depends on the factors previously mentioned.
