The Backblaze Computer Backup icon in the system tray lets you access the Backblaze Control Panel (Windows)/Preferences (Mac). If you are an admin, you can hide the Backblaze icon. This option is not typically available when you remotely install the client. However, you can use the remote machine management (RMM) tool to hide the Backblaze icon.
Hide the Backblaze Icon (Mac)
The Backblaze icon is controlled by the file /Library/Backblaze.bzpkg/bzdata/bzflags/mac_bzbmenu_hide_status_item.bzflag
. When this file is present, Backblaze does not display an icon in the system tray. You must remove this file to restore the icon. You can use this script from github.com to create the file.
Hide the Backblaze Icon (Windows)
A registry key controls the Backblaze icon for Windows. The .BAT file is available at github.com and removes the icon and the icon process.
