Assign an Unused License

If you purchased a license for your Backblaze Computer Backup account for a new installation, you can apply it to a backup two ways.

Download the Backup Client

1. Sign in to the Backblaze web console.
2. In the left navigation menu under Computer Backup, click Overview.
3. In the Unused License section, click Download.
   The Backblaze Backup Client is downloaded to your computer.
4. Open the Backblaze Installer, and follow the prompts to install the software.

A new installation that is properly licensed is displayed on the Overview page of your account.

Install the Backup Client on a New Computer

1. Sign in to the Backblaze web console.
2. In the left navigation menu under Computer Backup, click Overview.
3. At the bottom of the Overview page, select the appropriate download link for your operating system. Alternatively, you can go to the Update Page and download the proper installation for your operating system.
4. Follow the prompts to install the software.
   Installing the software results in the new installation being licensed.
5. If the above steps do not license the new installation, manually apply the unused license to the new backup.
   1. In the left navigation menu under Computer Backup, click Overview.
   2. Click Use License next to the name of the new installation.
