We have a lot of tasks that accumulate throughout the year and every summer we’re excited to have interns come onboard and help us work through some of our backlog. This summer the Marketing Department has the pleasure of working with Angie, who’s helping us dig through data and also making some graphics for us in her spare time! Learn a bit more about Angie below!
What is your Backblaze Title?
Marketing Intern.
Where are you originally from?
I was actually born in China, but I moved to Utah with my parents when I was a baby. Afterwards, I lived in Colorado and Texas for a little bit before coming to California (my favorite state so far lol). This summer should mark my sixth year living here!
What attracted you to Backblaze?
My mom has been working at Backblaze for quite some time and she told me that there might be interning opportunities during the summer. For the past few years, I’ve been interested in business so I wanted to see if I could gain some knowledge about marketing and the tech industry. I also didn’t want to spend my entire summer studying for the ACT and SAT haha.
What do you expect to learn while being at Backblaze?
I hope to learn more about various marketing techniques and technology in general.
Where else have you worked?
This is actually my first job! It’s much better than working at In N Out (what I originally had in mind).
Where did you go to school?
I currently attend Mountain View High School and will be a junior in the fall.
What’s your dream job?
My interests and strengths are pretty spread so I don’t have anything specific in mind. But I’ll enjoy any job that gives me ample room to be creative and to have fun.
Favorite place you’ve traveled?
Taiwan. The humidity and heat are horrendously hard to adjust to and I’m a walking buffet for mosquitos, but the street food and cheap milk tea collectively make up for it.
Favorite hobby?
Probably drawing and painting, despite school sucking up most of my time and energy.
Of what achievement are you most proud?
For the past four summers, I’ve competed in a graphic novel making contest held by the San Jose Library and I’ve managed to place 1st in my respective category three times.
Star Trek or Star Wars?
Yikes I haven’t watched either but I’ll say Star Wars. One day I’ll get around to catching up.
Coke or Pepsi?
I lean more towards Coke.
Favorite food?
I’m slightly lactose intolerant but that doesn’t stop me from eating any and all dairy products.
Why do you like certain things?
Dopamine and serotonin.
Anything else you’d like you’d like to tell us?
I really, really like dogs and will not hesitate to hug and pet one if given the opportunity.
Luckily for Angie we have a plethora of dogs in the office, they are more than happy to get all of the hugs! Welcome aboard!
